Basque Tradition
Inspired by the rich Basque culture and infused with effortless California charm, Cali Mojo celebrates a unique fusion of tradition and creativity. Drawing its roots from the classic Basque drink Calimocho (also spelled Kalimotxo), Cali Mojo tells a story that began in 1972 at a festival in Algorta, Spain. When organizers discovered a large batch of red wine had spoiled, they ingeniously mixed it with Coca-Cola to mask the off-flavors. The refreshing result was named after Kalimero and Motxo, two friends of the organizers, and quickly became a beloved, simple cocktail in the Basque Country.
Our modern take on Cali Mojo was born in El Dorado Hills, where a collaboration between a passionate winemaker and brewmaster sought to honor the area’s rich heritage.
Our goal: to craft a beverage that embodies friendship, celebration, and local pride.

AT NELLO OLIVO
In 1970, a rebellious Italian winemaker broke tradition to create the first Super Tuscan, setting a new standard in winemaking. Today, Nello Olivo carries on that legacy, crafting exceptional Italian-inspired wines from 11 varieties of estate-grown grapes. His passion for producing “The best Italian wines under the California sun” has resulted in smooth, well-balanced, and richly flavored vintages.
Partnering with Gary Ritz, a visionary brewmaster known for his clean, delicious craft beers brewed with simplicity and quality from start to finish, this friendship sparked the creation of Cali Mojo. Rooted in tradition yet crafted for enjoyment, Cali Mojo is a signature blend best enjoyed in the company of friends.
